Association "Mora Thavmata" (Miracle Babies) donates to the state the first and only Neonological & Pediatric Ambulance

During a modest ceremony that took place on Friday 6/11/2020 at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Ministers, Members of Parliament and other officials, the Association Mora Thavmata handed over to the President of the Republic, a state-of-the-art ambulance specially designed for premature, newborns with health problems, children and pregnant women, worth 300,000 euros.

The ambulance is one of the most modern and technologically upgraded ambulances in Europe, as it is a new generation and certified based on the European Standard of ambulances EN1789. It is designed by Ambuline with the support of the Cyprus Ambulance Service, so that it is ergonomic, spacious and enables staff to work safely, efficiently, comfortably and under any conditions that may prevail during transport of the patient. This state-of-the-art ambulance will provide specialized and high quality care to all newborns, children and pregnant women in Cyprus.

In his greeting, the President of the Republic expressed his gratitude of the State and the citizens to the President and the members of the Board of Directors of the Association Mora Thavmata, not only for the purchase of the ambulance, but especially for their overall activities. He also stated that the upgrade and expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Makarios Hospital is currently being studied in detail.

The President of the Association Elena Megalemou Triantafyllidou, said that thanks to the close cooperation of the Ministry of Health and the Association Mora Thavmata, a great goal became a reality. She stressed that November 6, 2020 is an important milestone in the course of the Association and that from now on miracle babies will be safely transported to and from the special Intensive Care Units of the Arch. Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia and the General Hospital in Limassol. She thanked OPAP Cyprus for the generous sponsorship of 100,000 euros, as well as the people for their contributions and love for the Association. Finally, she thanked all the state bodies that support the vision of the Association, which is the upgrade and expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Commissioner of the European Union Stella Kyriakidou, as a grandmother of a premature baby and former President of the Association "Baby Miracles", also made a videotaped intervention in the ceremony, thanking the President and the members of the Board for achieving the great goal and expressing her regret that she could not to attend such an important day of the Association.

Mr. Dimitris Aletraris, CEO of OPAP Cyprus, addressed a short greeting as a major sponsor of the neonatology and pediatric ambulance market.

Shortly after the ceremony, the President of the Association handed over the ambulance key to the President of the Republic.

During the ceremony, all protection measures against coronavirus were observed.
